Common questions.
Clear answers about planning, product details, installation, and support.
Planning your project
What does permanent roofline lighting cost?
Price is based on the linear footage of your roofline and project complexity, including peaks, jumps, access, old light removal, and additional power needs. Projects start at $1,600. Your consultant measures on-site and provides the project price before anything is booked.
Will the track be visible during the day?
The low-profile aluminum track is custom color-matched to your fascia using physical material swatches and sits flush against it. It is designed to blend with the roofline during the day.
Will my HOA approve a permanent lighting system?
Approval depends on your association and its rules. We can provide a one-page packet covering materials, daytime appearance, installation method, and removal for your board to review. Confirm approval with your HOA before installation.
Do I need a permit?
Permit requirements vary by city, county, electrical scope, and property. We review the project requirements during the assessment and identify any permit or inspection needs before installation is scheduled.
Product and control
How well does the system handle Utah weather?
The lights are IP68-rated lights, the connectors are IP67-rated connectors, and the tested operating range is −40°C to 60°C. These ratings are designed for outdoor exposure, but damage from severe weather or other acts of nature is excluded from the product warranty.
How do I control colors and schedules?
The included control hub connects the system to the CHIPR LUX app. The RGBW lights support more than 16 million colors, independent zones, and scheduling. We connect the app and walk you through its controls during handoff.
How much electricity does the system use?
Each LED can draw up to 1.2W per LED. Total use depends on the number of lights, brightness, colors, and schedule, so a universal monthly cost would not be accurate. Your project design provides the information needed to estimate consumption.
How is this different from seasonal lighting?
CHIPR LUX is a permanently mounted architectural lighting system with color-matched track, RGBW lights, an included control hub, and app control. It remains installed year-round for everyday white light, holidays, and other scheduled scenes.
Installation and service
How long does the process take?
Timing depends on assessment availability, your approval, product preparation, project complexity, and the installation calendar. We complete the on-site measurements, provide the invoice for approval, and then reserve an available installation date. Your consultant will discuss current timing for your project.
What happens during installation?
A trained CHIPR LUX crew installs the color-matched track, lights, wiring, power supply, and control hub according to the approved scope. The crew then connects the app and completes a system walkthrough. Installation time varies with roofline size, access, and complexity.
What happens if a single light node fails?
If one LED fails under covered conditions, CHIPR LUX replaces the individual node.
What warranty is included?
The system includes a 10-year product warranty and a one-year labor warranty. Product coverage applies to manufacturing defects, water ingress, and color failure. Coverage follows the installation address without re-registration. Exclusions include power surges, acts of nature, physical or third-party damage, roof work, unauthorized modifications, improper voltage, normal wear after the warranty period, and HOA-required removal. Unauthorized repair or reinstallation, deliberate damage, or incompatible third-party components void coverage.
