An ingress rating and an operating range answer different questions. IP68 and IP67 describe the published protection ratings for the lights and connectors. The operating range describes the tested temperature range; it does not remove the need for a sound installation and appropriate electrical protection.

Why installation matters in Utah

Weather damage is not automatically covered

The warranty excludes power surges, lightning strikes, hail, fallen branches, ice damage, flooding, and other acts of nature. It also excludes damage caused by a customer, third party, roofer, pressure washer, or other contractor; roof work or home renovations by other contractors; customer-initiated modifications; improper voltage; and normal wear after the warranty period.

Unauthorized repairs or modifications, removal or reinstallation by anyone other than CHIPR LUX, deliberate damage, and incompatible third-party bulbs, controllers, or components can void coverage. These limits matter in Utah because snow and ice removal, roof replacement, repainting, and storm cleanup can involve other people working near the roofline.

A practical winter checklist

Before the first major storm:

  1. Confirm the control hub and power supply remain accessible as planned.
  2. Check that no new roof, landscaping, or construction work will contact the track or wiring.
  3. Avoid attaching decorations or third-party components to the installed system.
  4. Keep ladders, snow tools, and pressure washers away from the lights, track, and connectors.
  5. Photograph visible damage after severe weather and contact CHIPR LUX before attempting a repair.
  6. Coordinate roof replacement or repainting with CHIPR LUX rather than removing the system yourself.
